2. Venue

Event Center is located at the city of Dospat, Smolyan Municipality, Rhodopa Mountains, South part of Bulgaria. 200 km South-East from Sofia.

 

3. Embargoed Area

Area around Shiroka Polyana and Beglika between September 1, 2007 and February 20, 2008, except of places opened during the official training camp.

In each competition each federation may enter:

Individual events                     max. 6 men, 6 women

Relay event                                    max. 2 male teams, 2 female teams

Each federation may enter a team of 14 competitors – up to 7 women and 7 men and unlimited number of team officials.

Individual events                     max. 6 men, 6 women

Relay event (JWOC)                 max. 2 male teams, 2 female teams, only the better team will count

 

Participation restrictions according to EYOC Rules

Each federation may enter a team of an unlimited number of members.

Individual events                     max. 4 men, 4 women

Athletes registered for EYOC are allowed to start in JWOC disciplines within the maximum national quota per race.

8. Opportunities for training

A training camp will take place between February 1st – 12th in the immediate vicinity of competition areas; those who wish may participate in the events of Bulgarian National Championships of Ski-O on February 9th and 10th, sprint and middle distance respectively. We offer accommodation in Dospat – in hotel type A, 18km from the training areas (you will need transport that we may arrange if needed) and pension in the area of Shiroka Polyana – type B are limited and reservations will be accepted by arrival order. The deadline for reservation of official accommodation is 15th January, 2008. The price for rooms type A is ˆ40 and for type B is ˆ25 - ˆ30 per day per person (see accommodation form at the end of the bulletin), food included. The start fee is ˆ30 for both starts.

 

 

 

 

9. Transport

We will arrange transportation from Sofia airport and the Central rail station to the Event Center. The price is ˆ25 per person in each direction (ˆ50 per person to Event Center and back). There is no direct transport from Sofia to the Event Center.

You can travel by car from Sofia to Dospat on one the following routes:

  1. Sofia –> Pazardjik –> Peshtera –> Batak –> Dospat
  2. Sofia –> Septemvri –> Rakitovo –> Batak -> Dospat

10. Visas

Directions for obtaining entry permits (visas) – a complete visa application form for all competitors and team leaders must be sent to us as soon as possible, but not later than 12th December 2007.

 

11. Terrain type and weather conditions

Mountain area with steep and flat parts between 1570 – 1720 m a.s.l. with marked ground forms and coniferous woods. The snow cover usually varies between 50cm and one meter. In February the temperatures vary from -15 to +10 degrees Celsius.

 

12. Maps and punching system

For the relays, sprint and middle distances the maps are in 1:10000 scale, vertical contour line intervals – 5m; for long distance – 1:15000 scale, vertical contour line intervals – 5m. All maps are renewed in 2007. Relevant old maps are available at the BOF web page - www. bgof.org

 

Sport Ident will be used as electronic punching system. Competitors may use their own SI cards, or borrow one from the organizers. The penalty for lost SI card is ˆ22.
